10 Layer PCB
The 10 Layer PCB board is a circuit board that has 10 layers. They are fixed tightly together with strong mutual relations between each of the layers. The 10 layer PCB performs so well due to the strong connection between the signal and the return plane, as well as the strong coupling between the control/ground plane in the center of the board. The high speed signal will be routed to the signal layer in the plane.
In this configuration, the method of pairing the signal level is to pair layers 1 & 10 (carrying low-frequency signals), combining layers 3 & 4, and layers 7 & 8 (both having high speeding signals). By pairing the signals in this way, the planes on the second and ninth layers guide the high-frequency signals on the inner layers.
In addition, signals at layers 3 and 4 are separated from signals at layers 7 and 8 by midpoint control/ground plane pairs. For example, we may route high-speed clocks on any pairs, high-speed data bus and address can be transferred to another pair also, protecting the bus lines against being polluted with clock noise by the dominant planes
This commercialized multilayer technology makes it possible to mix all kinds of devices such as power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers. In addition, 10 layer PCBs no longer require separate components, such as filters and couplers, and can be directly integrated into the multi-layer circuit structure. Long delay lines can also be placed on different layers, separated by a ribbon structure, reducing the overall package size.
We can implement these configurations using plated through-hole links between layers. Since the plating through-hole method is used to connect the circuit from one layer to another, the design engineer should consider the variation in impedance when forming the circuit from the circuit to the plating through a hole.
When plating a PCB, the hole wall chemically deposits a very thin layer of copper. The line is fully computerized and the panels are transported by overhead cranes through a series of chemical and rinsing tanks. Almost all PCBs with two or more copper layers use through holes to connect the conductor between the two layers.
To get the right connection, you need to coat the walls of the holes with 25 microns of copper. The thickness shall be electroplated, but the hole walls shall be non-conductive glass cloth and resin.
