Do you allow your manufacturer to do some changes to your PCB design?

I receive an email from My PCBA suppliers. They advised us to adjust our original PCB design. Are there any PCB designer have this experience after releasing original design to your supplier? If yes, do you think that the manufacturer can make your design better?

If the manufacturer gets back to us and suggests any changes, we do take their suggestions into account always. But the most important thing is that any changes to our OEM products, including PCB design, should be recognized by us and recorded well in our database.

Why? Because this is our product and we must be the party who knows it best.

When we develop new products, we refer to one of BOM from the database. So the right database is very important for our further product development.

We should clearly state this when bringing in new suppliers. If they don’t follow this, we may consider quitting cooperation with them.

We do want some feedback about changing the PCB design in order to cost saving. For example, remove and change some expensive stuff and production methods. We reach win-win position and feel happy together.

I forgot a resistor on my PCB prototype – how do I add one in?

I need to add a resistor into a data line on my project. The data line is a trace and carries low speed data. A through-hole resistor will be fine. The pins for both ends of the trace are exposed, but how do I add the resistor and remove the trace?
